What is All-Inclusive?
All-inclusive resorts roll your stay into a single up-front price. Your room, all meals, snacks, beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), most on-site activities, gratuities for resort staff, and entertainment are included — so once you arrive, you can leave your wallet in the room safe and just relax.
What’s typically included:
- Accommodations and resort fees
- Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks at multiple restaurants on property
- Premium-brand cocktails, wine, beer, and soft drinks
- Non-motorized water sports (kayaks, paddleboards, snorkeling gear)
- Pools, beach access, lounge chairs, towel service
- Live entertainment, theme nights, and resort-led activities
- Tips for waitstaff, housekeeping, and bartenders
What’s usually not included: airfare, off-property excursions, spa treatments, certified scuba diving, motorized water sports, premium restaurants requiring a supplement, and gift-shop purchases.
Why book all-inclusive through a travel agent?
The major all-inclusive brands offer agent-only promotions — resort credits, free upgrades, complimentary nights, and value-add amenities (private dinners, spa credits, romantic turn-downs) that don’t show up on the public booking sites. We’ve also personally inspected many of these properties and know which ones live up to their marketing.
Family Resorts
Family-friendly resorts are designed to keep parents, kids, and grandparents all happy at the same property. The best ones invest in supervised kids’ clubs, age-appropriate activities, family suites or connecting rooms, and pools or water parks that make “just one more day” the inevitable refrain.
What to look for in a family resort:
- Kids’ clubs for ages 4–12 with daily supervised programming — the best ones are free, and certified staff use it as an excuse to let parents enjoy a quiet lunch
- Teen lounges with video games, pool tables, and dedicated activities for the 13–17 crowd
- Family suites or connecting rooms so everyone has space without paying for two separate rooms
- Water parks and lazy rivers — the difference between a vacation kids love and one they merely tolerate
- Multiple kid-friendly restaurants with high chairs, simple menus, and tolerance for spilled drinks
- Babysitting services so parents can have a date night without leaving the property
Brands we book most often for families: Beaches Resorts (Sandals’ family brand), Hyatt Ziva, Moon Palace, Iberostar Star Prestige Family, Club Med, Atlantis (Bahamas), Disney’s Aulani (Hawaii), and Grand Velas. Multi-generational trips frequently end up at Hyatt Ziva/Zilara campuses, which pair a family resort and an adults-only resort under one operator.
Adults-Only Resorts
Adults-only resorts (typically 18+ or 21+) are built around the rhythm of a vacation without children. Quieter pools, more refined dining rooms, more sophisticated entertainment, and a noticeably calmer pace. Perfect for couples, honeymoons, milestone anniversaries, girls’ or guys’ trips, and anyone who wants their getaway to actually feel like a getaway.
What to expect:
- Premium accommodations — swim-up suites, butler service, oceanfront rooms, and rooftop terraces
- Multiple restaurants including specialty (French, Italian, Asian, steakhouse) with no buffet expectations
- Top-shelf bar programs — craft cocktails, sommelier-led wine lists, and pool-deck bottle service
- Spa and wellness focus with hydrotherapy circuits, sound baths, couples treatments, and yoga at dawn
- Live music, lounges, and DJ-led pool parties instead of family-show entertainment
- Romance amenities — private beach dinners, in-room spa, anniversary turn-downs
Brands we book most often for adults-only: Sandals Resorts (Caribbean & couples-only), Excellence Resorts, Le Blanc Spa Resort, Secrets Resorts & Spas, Royalton CHIC, Hyatt Zilara, Hard Rock All-Inclusive (adults sections), TRS Hotels, and Couples Resorts. For ultra-luxury adults-only: Belmond Maroma (Riviera Maya), Jade Mountain (St. Lucia), and Calala Island (Nicaragua).
